The journey begins with locally sourced clay from the outskirts of Fez. Dried clay is patiently soaked in water for days and then hand-blended into a paste. This rustic process retains minerals like iron and lime, adding a distinctive texture and character to the tile's surface. Even leftover clay-cutting scraps find new life, recycled into the next day's batch.

As the freshly cut tiles bask in the sun, they gradually dry to the perfect "leather" hardness. Stacked in kilns following tradition, these terracotta tiles exhibit a beautiful range of colors, from buff to pink.
